The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has announced on Thursday 11th November that Kenya has been added to the amber list of countries in the Code of Practice for the International Recruitment of Health and Social Care Personnel in England.

This means that MSI International is unfortunately now no longer able to recruit health and social care professionals from Kenya to UK NHS jobs.

However, if you have already received a conditional offer from a UK employer prior to Thursday 11th November, the recruitment process can continue. According to the NHS, “This recognises the investment which has already been made to get the candidate to this stage and will ensure candidates who are fully expecting to be able to move to the UK to work are treated fairly.”

The decision to add Kenya to the amber recruitment list was made as it is a country with significant health workforce challenges. “Adding Kenya to the amber list will protect the country from unmanaged international recruitment which could exacerbate existing health and social care workforce shortages,” said the NHS.
